Do-it-yourself vase from a glass bottle
We all like it when our home is beautifully decorated, let it be something modest and neat, for example, a vase. Recently, vases are used not only to store flowers, but also simply as a decorative element. And imagine that you can make a vase even with your own hands.
Consider what we need in order to make such an accessory of glass.
Equipment:
- Glass bottle;
- glass cutter;
- thick gloves;
- large pan;
- thick sandpaper;
- thin sand paper.
It may seem to someone that a glass cutter is a complex mechanism, but in fact, everything is much simpler. Observing the basic rules, you can easily cope with this task.
Step 1
Start by removing the label. To do this, use warm water, soap and a hard sponge. Wipe the bottle well. Make a large pot of boiled water. She will be needed a little later.
Step 2
After the bottle is cleaned, determine the height of your vase and adjust the size of the glass cutter. After that, rotate the bottle under the blade in the designated place around the circle.
Step 3
Then put on thick gloves and dip the bottle into the pot of boiling water along the cut line. Roll the bottle several times and leave it under water for 30 seconds. Turn on cold water in the sink.
Step 4
Next, pull the bottle out of hot water and lower it under a trickle of cold at the cut point. The bottle should break. If this does not happen, repeat steps 3 and 4 until the bottle breaks.
Step 5
After the bottle has broken, use sandpaper to smooth the edges of the cut. First, take sandpaper with a thick coating, this will remove all the excess, and then thin paper to finally smooth the edges.
So, you have a glass vase. You can make them as many as you want. And you can make bottles or candlesticks of different colors and sizes from bottles.
