Layout of a studio apartment

Arranging a one-room apartment is not an easy task. Russian realities are such that a one-room apartment is often a modest apartment with a small kitchen, often with a single room of irregular shape. But even in a small room you can equip a comfortable, functional and outwardly attractive housing. The quality of living in a particular place is affected not only by the area of the apartment. With a well-chosen layout of the right color schemes and metered use of decor, you can equip with comfort the most modest in size dwelling. We have collected for you a whole selection of practical and effective ways of placing several functional areas within a small room, we hope that the proposed design projects will help you organize the space of your apartment with the greatest efficiency. The issue of arranging small one-room apartments is quite acute for our compatriots, so any option to save space, visually expand a small area and correctly lay out furniture can be a key decision for owners of small-sized dwellings.

Ways to arrange a small home

All the options for creating a comfortable, functional and convenient interior of small-sized rooms can be found on a list that is not a dogma, but can be the starting point for creating an effective environment for a one-room apartment:

  • the use of an open plan helps not only save space, but also maintain a certain feeling of spaciousness, freedom (all functional areas, except for the bathroom, are combined in one room);
  • if possible, it is necessary to expand the window openings - the more natural light in the room, the more spacious it seems;
  • Use the play of light to benefit a modest room. A light finish in which the ceiling is white, the walls are slightly darker and the flooring appears as the darkest spot, visually enlarges the room;
  • use several local sources of artificial lighting, for each functional segment - your own lighting fixture or backlight system;
  • glossy ceiling and mirrors on the walls will visually increase the volume of the room;
  • if you strive for spaciousness, and the modest area of your home is your main problem, then prefer the functionality of the decor (candelabra, thick carpets and velvet draperies are difficult to combine with small spaces);
  • get rid of everything superfluous - there should not be random things in a small dwelling;
  • try to use functional objects (lighting, framed mirrors, dishes) as well as wall decor as decor;
  • built-in furniture will save space;
  • for zoning of functional sectors use modular, portable furniture;
  • if an interior partition is used as a zoning element, then it will be more practical to use a book double-sided rack.

The use of light colors, most often white, is becoming one of the main methods of visual expansion of space. In many rooms of irregular shape, with the presence of various niches and ledges, bevels of the ceiling and other design features, the white color helps visually smooth the corners and alleviate "imperfections". In addition, all shades of white are the perfect backdrop for any furniture, decor and textile. But it is important to understand that it is not worth using exclusively white color - color accents are necessary. In this matter, it is easiest to be inspired by the Scandinavian style.

Open plan

Open planning has long ceased to be a foreign trend for our compatriots and has become the best option for organizing the interior of a small space in which it is necessary to place several functional areas. By removing the walls and doors, you get access to all surfaces of the room, without exception, thereby increasing the chances of creating a comfortable and practical design of the home. An open layout does not restrict movement, does not interfere with traffic and the free flow of light. As a rule, when using an open plan in a small room in all areas, one type of decoration is used. An exception may be the design of the kitchen segment, where ceramic tiles can be used for both the flooring and the lining of the kitchen apron.

To design an open-plan apartment, a loft style may be an ideal option. Open space, large windows, isolation of the bathroom only, exposed engineering systems and a minimum of decor. If you are not confused by the openness of a greasy place, then the loft style is your choice for creating a modern, practical and memorable interior.

In an open-plan room, zoning elements are the furniture of the room itself. Sometimes, for the conditional delineation of a particular zone, carpet is used. Also, an element indicating the belonging to a particular functional segment is the lighting system - local lighting devices or backlighting.

In an apartment where the kitchen was combined not only with the dining room and living room, but also the bedroom, an important element of the interior, the choice of which must be paid close attention, is a powerful and most silent hood. In order to rid the functional segments for sleeping and relaxing from the smells of cooking and even the settling of droplets of fat on surfaces, it is necessary to organize uninterrupted air purification above the hob or stove.

In order to maintain the openness of the layout, but at the same time create some intimacy of the sleeping sector, you can use curtains. As a rule, cornices (rails) for curtains or curtains are attached directly to the ceiling. In the non-upturned state, the structures do not interfere with the perception of the image of the entire room.

If there is no possibility for a bed in a small room, then the use of a folding sofa becomes the main priority. Corner structures make it possible to organize the most spacious berth and when assembled are roomy enough to accommodate several people. Moreover, such structures can be installed in the corner of the room by the window - a place that cannot be used for massive furniture that can close the path of sunlight.

Another way to allocate a sleeping segment without installing interior partitions is to build a podium. This approach allows you to use the space under the bed to accommodate spacious storage systems. Even in the space under the steps, drawers can be built.

The issue of organizing storage systems in any spaces is not easy to solve, but within the framework of a small-sized apartment, it becomes especially acute. With sufficiently high ceilings, you can place shallow modular systems at the very top. Around the head of the bed you can integrate a whole system of open shelves and swing cabinets. In the same design, you can embed the backlight not only for the visual effect, but also for organizing the ability to read before bedtime.

The use of interior partitions and shelving

It is most effective to use storage systems of various modifications as an interior partition. As you know, there are not many storage places, this rule applies to small apartments even to a greater extent. To avoid cluttering up small spaces, an order is needed in the distribution of things necessary for life. Most often, a bed is exposed to separation from the general space. As a result, you get an almost intimate area for sleeping and relaxing and a spacious storage system.

In order to provide the sleeping sector with access to natural lighting, you can use non-deaf models of shelves that are not installed at the entire height of the room. As a result, the sleeping area will be at least partially lit. And you get a partition that can be used for hanging open shelves or placing a video zone.

Using an open plan is not an option for all hosts. The use of partitions, racks and screens, various in modification, is necessary in families where there is a child. Even in a small space it is necessary to allocate a corner for the baby - whether it be a toy rack or a small table with a high chair.

Transforming furniture for small and multifunctional spaces

In an apartment of modest size, furniture capable of performing several functions becomes not just a pleasant novelty, but a necessity. When combining a living room and a bedroom in one room, the main problem becomes the demarcation of the sleeping and resting areas. As a result, the owners face the issue of organizing sleeping space. It can be either a folding sofa, which during the day acts as the main attribute of the living room, and at night becomes a bed. The second option - the use of a folding bed, "hidden" in the closet. And the last opportunity to distinguish functions in one room is to use both a sofa in the living room area and a bed in the sleep sector. But this option is suitable only for fairly spacious rooms (improved layout, construction of this century).

Of course, not for every owner of a one-room apartment, the option of using a bed, which can be hidden in a closet, is suitable. This is especially true for older couples. But for young people of average build, this way of organizing space can be an excellent opportunity to get a multifunctional, practical and at the same time outwardly attractive home.

We use a two-tier construction

If your one-room apartment is a room with a high ceiling that can fit two tiers, then you can safely multiply square meters of the house by two. As a rule, a bedroom is located on the upper tier. For obvious reasons, we spend most of the time in the sleeping segment lying down, so the height of the ceiling does not play a significant role - if only we could get to the bed without hindrance. But for such rooms, nobody canceled the main possibilities of increasing space - light finishes, glass and mirror surfaces, metered decor and the presence of bright accents or contrasting interior details.

The most effective design projects of small apartments

We present to your attention a project of a one-room apartment in which it was possible not to combine the kitchen with the living room. In this small space, the living room, bedroom and mini-cabinet harmoniously coexist. Thanks to the use of a folding bed, which “hides” in a shallow closet during the day, the room can act as a full living room, and at night become a bedroom. The visual expansion of the space is facilitated by the use of mirror surfaces for the execution of doors of the built-in cabinet. Behind these mirrored doors is a built-in workplace. A small worktop and open shelves fit compactly even in a cabinet with a shallow depth.

Another example of the organization of living space in one long room. Large windows, light finishes on most surfaces, the play of contrasts and the use of a warm color palette helped visually expand the space and create a comfortable and cozy atmosphere. Instead of a bulky sofa in the living area, two mobile chairs were used, which, if necessary, can be mounted on the wall, freeing up more free space. The workplace is represented by a small console and a set of open shelves that do not take up much space. Mirrored doors of the system of built-in cabinets visually increase the volume of the room. And the use of the entire height of the room for arranging the mezzanines allowed to increase the number of storage systems.

Here is a design project of one modest one-room apartment. Only the bathroom remained isolated in this bright room. It was through the use of light finishes, the metered introduction of bright accents and the use of light wood in warm shades that managed to achieve such an effective image of a small home. Separation of a berth for a non-blind partition allowed to preserve the penetration of light from the living area, but at the same time create some privacy of the segment for sleeping and relaxing. The rejection of massive furniture and the use of built-in storage systems allowed us to create a layout in which there is enough free space not only to move around the room, but also to maintain a sense of freedom. Many local light sources create a visual expansion of space, not to mention its main purpose.

In another apartment with a fairly spacious room, the issue of separating the sleeping area was resolved using an interior partition. The advantage of such structures is that the use of the structure is possible on both sides. You can hang the TV from the side of the living room, and in the sleeping area - a picture or small open shelves.
